1. bad——negative, harmful, damaging, deteriorating, inferior    

 

A) negative (Adj. / V. / N.)消極的,否認的; [數學]負的; []反抗性的; 無預期結果的;否定詞語; 否定的觀點; 消極性; []底片;否定; 拒絕

 

例句:

(1) All this had an extremely negative effect on the criminal justice system.

(2) Why does the media present such a negative view of this splendid city? 

 

B) harmful (Adj.) 有害的; 能造成損害的; 不利; 不良

 

例句:

(1) It's believed the affair was potentially harmful to British aviation.

(2) Such laws could protect the consumer from harmful or dangerous remedies.

 

C) damaging (Adj. / V.) 有破壞性的,損害的,誹謗的;損害,毀壞,加害於( damage的現在分詞 )

 

例句:

(1) It is not possible to reposition the carpet without damaging it. 

(2) His departure risks damaging the Prime Minister's authority. 

 

D) deteriorating (V.) 惡化,變壞( deteriorate的現在分詞 )

 

例句:

(1) There is an unquestionable link between job losses and deteriorating services. 

(2) The FBI said negotiations with the suspect were deteriorating.

 

E) inferior (Adj. / N.)(品質等)低劣的; 下級的,下等的; (位置在)下面的; 部下,下屬; 次品; 晚輩

 

例句:

(1) He preferred the company of those who were intellectually inferior to himself.

(2) Not that the experience is inferior- just modern.

 


 

2. get——obtain, gain, acquire, achieve, have, access to

 

A) obtain (V.) 獲得,得到; 流行; 買到,達到(目的);通用; 存在

 

例句:

(1) The perfect body has always been difficult to obtain.

(2) The longer this situation obtains, the more extensive the problems become.

 

B) gain (V. /N.) 獲得; 贏得; 增加; (鐘、表)走快;利潤; [土木工程]腰槽; 獲益;(在上)開腰槽; 吸引; (通過努力)到達; 推進(一段距離);增進; 增進健康; 得益; (重量的)增加

 

例句:

(1) While it has lost its tranquility, the area has gained in liveliness. 

(2) Their efforts helped the hostages gain their freedom. 

 

C) acquire (V.) 獲得,取得; 學到

 

例句:

(1) Having read the book, she will be able to pass on the acquired knowledge to trainee teachers.

(2) He has acquired a reputation as this country's premier solo violinist. 

 

D) have (V. /N.) 有,具有; 拿,取得; 從事; 必須,不得不; 有錢人; 富國; 〈英俚〉欺騙,詐騙

 

例句:

(1) Remember, happiness doesn't depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely upon what you think.

(2) The Re-Up also seems to have an ulterior motive.

 

E) access to (V. /N.) 入口,出口; 接近,進入; 增長; 爆發;接近,進入; 使用,接近,獲取

 

例句:

(1) You've illegally accessed and misused confidential security files.

(2) The facilities have been adapted to give access to wheelchair users.
