1.  think---- assume, hold, maintain, argue, claim, deem, reckon    

 

A) assume  (V.)  假定,認為; 承擔; 裝出; 呈現

 

例句:

(1)  I am not a mathematician, but I assume the rise from 70p to 90p is a rise of 25 percent.

(2) If there is no president, power will be assumed by the most extremist forces.

 

B) hold (V. /N.) 拿住,握住; 保留,保存; 扣留,拘押; 容納; 同意,贊成; 保持不變; 有效; 控制;持有,懷有(觀點、信念等)

 

例句:

(1)  He held firm opinions which usually conflicted with my own

(2)  He holds certain expectations about the teacher's role

 

C) maintain  (V.)  保持; 保養; 堅持; 固執己見

 

例句:

(1) The psychiatrist must learn to maintain an unusual degree of objectivity. 

(2) Push yourself to make friends and to maintain the friendships.

 

D) argue (V.)  堅決主張; 提出理由證明; 說服,勸告; 表明,證明;爭論,辯論

 

例句:

(1) It could be argued that the British are not aggressive enough. 

(2) His lawyers are arguing that he is unfit to stand trial

 

E) claim (V. /N.)  聲稱; 斷言; 需要; 索取;提出要求; 索賠;(根據權利而提出的)要求

 

例句:

(1) Rival claims to Macedonian territory caused conflict in the Balkans.

(2) He was surrounded by people, all with claims on his attention. 

 

F) deem  (V.) 認為,視為; 主張,斷定

 

例句:

(1) Don't you deem that it is your duty to help?

(2) he experts deem that to be a non-starter, however. 

 

G) reckon (V.) 測算,估計; 認為; 計算; 評定,斷定

 

例句:

(1) He reckoned he was still fond of her.

(2) The sale has been held up because the price is reckoned to be too high. 

 


 

2. good---- positive, beneficial, effective, constructive, superior    
 

A) positive (Adj. /N.) 積極的; 確實的,肯定的; [數]正的; 陽性的;正面; 正片; 原級形容詞; [數]正數

 

例句:

(1) There's been a positive response to the UN Secretary-General's recent peace efforts. 

(2) Working abroad should be an exciting and positive experience for all concerned.

 

B) beneficial (Adj.) 有利的,有益的; 可享受利益的

 

例句:

(1) Using computers has a beneficial effect on children's learning. 

(2) I think it's a neat and beneficial experience.

 

C) effective (Adj. /N.) 有效的; 起作用的; 實際的,實在的; 給人深刻印象;精兵

 

例句:

(1) The new rules will become effective in the next few days.

(2) Women are sometimes seen to be less effective as managers. 

 

D) constructive (Adj.) 建設的,建設性的; 積極的,有助益的; 構造上的; [法律]推定的

 

例句:

(1) At least I'm doing something constructive. 

(2) I did so in a constructive and friendly way. 

 

E) superior (Adj. /N.)(級別、地位)較高的; (在品質等方面)較好的; (數量)較多的; 上等的上級; 較好的人[事物],優勝者; 修道院院長

 

例句:

(1) Lulu was said to be of very superior intelligence.

(2) Female qualities seem to be superior to male ones
